Poor sleep is one of the most common things people come to me with, and it is also one of the areas where hypnotherapy can make a profound and relatively quick difference. Because the problem with sleep is rarely about sleep itself. It is about a nervous system that does not know how to switch off.

WHY YOU CANNOT SLEEP

When we are stressed, anxious, or running on empty, the brain stays in a state of low-level alert. It is doing its job, scanning for threats, trying to keep you safe. But it cannot tell the difference between a genuine emergency and the mental to-do list you are running through at midnight.

The result is a brain that will not quiet down, a body that will not relax, and a pattern that often becomes self-reinforcing. The more nights you lie awake, the more anxious you become about sleep itself, and the harder it gets.

 

Hypnotherapy works by communicating directly with the unconscious mind, helping to reset the nervous system, release the patterns that are keeping you alert, and build new associations between bedtime and genuine rest.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Sessions are available in person in Wantage, Oxfordshire, and online via Zoom. As part of our work together, I create a personalised sleep hypnotherapy recording for you to listen to each evening. This is one of the most powerful tools I offer. Listened to consistently, it helps retrain the brain and nervous system over time, building a new relationship with sleep that does not depend on everything else in your life being perfect.

Most clients begin to notice a change in their sleep within the first couple of weeks of listening. By the time we have worked together for a few sessions, the shift is usually significant.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Sleep difficulties linked to stress or anxiety typically respond well within four to eight sessions, particularly when clients are consistent with their evening recording. Where sleep problems are part of a broader picture of anxiety or burnout, a slightly longer course of work may be beneficial, addressing the root as well as the symptom.

INVESTMENT

Hypnotherapy sessions are £95 each when booked as a block of three or more, or £135 for a single session. For anxiety work, a block is usually the most effective and most cost-efficient way to begin.
