WHAT CONDITIONS CAN ABDOMINAL MASSAGE SUPPORT?
Abdominal massage is used to help support reproductive health, digestive health, the menstrual cycle and your fertility.
WHAT IS ABDOMINAL SACRAL MASSAGE?
Abdominal Sacral Massage is a holistic and non- invasive therapeutic treatment. It involves a slow, deep, external treatment of the abdomen, lower back and sacrum to soften muscles, help free and align congested organs and therefore, open up blockages to the flow of blood, lymph, and nerve pathways. In women, the position of the uterus may be adjusted and in men, the treatment helps promote prostate health.
The massage works with the intention of helping to bring back into alignment the visceral organs. Treatment is designed to help bring the organs within the abdominal area back into alignment, releasing pressure and strengthening the surrounding muscles and ligaments within the pelvic area and therefore improve circulation.
As a Fertility Practitioner I have found that Abdominal Massage may help with:
When endometrial tissues begin to grow in other areas of the body besides the uterus, irritation occurs which then can create scar tissue. This can cause inflammation and the tissues can begin to stick together. The fascia and the ligaments then become tight therefore blood flow is further restricted. Massage can help breakup adhesions, decrease the inflammation, and help the body to eliminate the old blood left from the endometrial tissues.
PCOS ( Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)
PCOS can cause stagnation in the body. When ovulation does not occur and a cyst begins to grow on the ovaries, this causes a series of imbalances to occur. Fertility Massage promotes the hormonal feedback loop to communicate fully which in turn helps the body to ovulate, menstruate, and be in balance. Massage also can help to bring circulation to the ovaries, helping to nourish and bring fresh blood to your eggs. Like with many conditions diet is still the main therapy to bring about a significant change to PCOS but Fertility Massage can really help too.
Reasons for menstrual cramps:-
The uterus is contracting to expel old blood ( normally observed as brown spotting)
A “cold uterus” – lacking in circulation ( normally due to poor uterus position)
Scar tissue left from surgery ( such as a laparoscopy)
Nutritional deficiencies have been shown to effect PMS and menstrual cramps.
Fertility Massage is a very relaxing routine. While you are receiving a massage, the body begins to relax, blood flow increases, endorphins (feel good hormones such as serotonin) release, and muscles let go. Most of our clients will fall asleep and all report that they sleep much better!
This specific abdominal massage treatment supports a healthy digestion and the deep colon massage aims to help to loosen any hardened debris and to encourage natural bowel movement.
If you have a digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, heartburn, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and Crohn’s disease, treatment may help alleviate the symptoms and discomfort.
Abdominal Sacral Massage may also be complementary in addressing emotional stress by releasing tension held in the torso. Treatment assists with freeing the diaphragm which may be restricted due to unhelpful breathing patterns whilst creating more space in the abdominal cavity for the organs which improves the abdominal and pelvic circulation. The parasympathetic nervous system is activated which helps reduce stress and anxiety and supports the release of emotional trauma and blockages.
